Scottish Longsword Letter Opener - 'The Shetland' #4/7 - Sterling Silver with Black Blade and Garnet
This Miniature Scottish Longsword, named 'The Shetland,' is a must-have for weapons enthusiasts, and collectors of fine curios. This sleek Scottish sword is made to scale, at one-fifth the size of the original artefact, from which it is based upon. A fine example of this specific style of sword can be seen in the film, 'The Outlaw King,' which is about the fate of Robert the Bruce in 14th century Scotland. Constructed using conventional sword-making techniques, an adaptation to the design allows for the placement of stones, set on both sides of the pommel. It can be used as a letter opener, and is one of only seven swords made in this design, all of which are unique in their own way.
This handmade sword features a polished sterling silver cuillion, pommel, and grip ends, complete with a dark brown wooden grip. The steel blade is coated with a black patina, has blunt edges, and a tang which runs through all of the hilt components. The pommel is adorned with a garnet cabochon on either side, and a pommel nut fastening, at the top.
This collectible item comes within a hand crafted wooden box, which features a sliding lid and a leather-lined bottom. The hanger at the top of the box allows it to be hung on the wall, displaying the sword in all its glory, as it perches on wee nails, installed for this purpose. The box can also be used for storage or flat display, and a wooden stand, for showcasing further, is also provided.
